Tycho is Scott Hansen, a San Francisco-based producer who builds swirling melodies into slowly triumphant arcs over stuttering beats and vocal samples. He began releasing music in the early 2000s with The Science of Patterns EP, followed by the first full-length, Sunrise Projector, in 2004 and Past Is Prologue in 2006. Guitarist Zac Brown joined as a collaborator in 2011 for Dive, the first album in a trilogy completed by Awake in 2014 and the Grammy-nominated Epoch in 2016, both of which featured Rory O'Connor on drums. Vocalist Saint Sinner widened the project's scope on 2019's Weather, which earned Tycho a second Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronic Album; 2020 then brought its instrumental companion Simulcast, a collaboration with alt-R&B artist rum.gold and the Weather Remixes project. Along the way Tycho has remixed Odesza and Leon Bridges, Maggie Rogers, Spoon, The Knocks and Muna, Little Dragon, Thievery Corporation and Death Cab for Cutie. Over fifteen years the project has grown from a singular to a plural, and from an ambient electronic experiment into a full audio-visual live show.
