Maddie Moon

Maddie Moon was born in Venezuela and is based in Spain, where she writes, plays and produces everything herself. Her music leans on the look and feel of the 70s and 80s, with ethereal instrumentation and Christian lyrics that follow her own path through faith and life. She takes her cues from indie pop, bedroom pop and dream pop, and from artists as recent as Dayglow and The Marias and as long-standing as The Cure, using sweet floating sounds to reach the listener's deeper feelings. After working through anxiety and depression, she had what she describes as a supernatural encounter with Jesus, which shifted her writing from self-expression toward songs about the greater hope she found in him, a style of worship of her own. Her album Melancholy marks a clear change from her first EP: a conceptual piece as much visual as musical, written as a love letter to a bygone era and its melancholic kind of happiness. Her music has been played and discussed on BBC Introducing on Merseyside, where she was also interviewed, on radio stations around the world, and in magazines including Indie Rocks MX.
