Generationwhy (Audio)

ZHU is Steven Zhu, an electronic music artist as known for his live shows as for his production: synth melodies, billowing basslines and hooks, plus his own voice and playing, assembled into something at once sultry and sinister. He first reached mainstream attention when his 2014 single 'Faded' was nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 2015 Grammy Awards. The genre-blurring debut album GENERATIONWHY arrived in 2016 with the single 'In The Morning', followed by RINGOS DESERT in 2018, DREAMLAND 2021, the Musical Chairs Mixtape (Vol. 1) in 2022 and THE DAYS BEFORE GRACE EP in 2023. For GRACE, his 2024 album and tour, he also produced a making-of documentary, 24 Hours of Grace, recorded in San Francisco's Grace Cathedral. His latest project, BLACK MIDAS, accompanies BLACKLIZT, his nightlife warehouse concept: an album of dancefloor tracks built around late-night narratives in sound, emotion, words and energy, running from deep house to melodic techno, with collaborations from an array of underground and emerging artists.
