The Winter Sounds

Patrick Keenan started the Winter Sounds in 2006 in Athens, Georgia, where the band quickly built a name on frenetic live shows, welding the danceable post-punk of Gang of Four to more contemporary electro-pop. The lineup is international now — Andrew Jeckell from the UK on guitars, Denis Ugroza from Russia and Ukraine on drums — and the band is based in Prague. Their current music takes its cue from solarpunk, the literary movement that acts as a banner for various movements toward a diverse, sustainable, post-capitalist future, and pulls in bedroom pop, retrowave and fuzz-pop and hyper-pop. Jupiter, their seventh full-length, arrives in January 2026 on the Czech label Brainzone alongside Kitty Kant Collective, the homegrown, artist-run DIY label the band runs itself. They recorded it at Fine Cutlery Studios in New Orleans; Derek Garten, who has worked with Taylor Swift and Jewel, mixed it at Prime Recording Studios in Nashville, and Nick Tuttle mastered it at Misty Music Studio in Asheville, North Carolina.
