French 79

French 79 is Simon Henner, a producer based in Marseille whose three foundational albums, Olympic, Joshua and TEENAGERS, built an immersive world of synth music in a line running through Erik Satie, Jean-Michel Jarre, Air, Daft Punk and Justice. More than 180 concerts around the globe on his last tour made him an ambassador for Marseille's electronic scene, and songs like "Diamond Veins", "Lovin' Feeling" and "Hometown" carried his name further still. He has composed the original soundtrack for Reda Kateb's film Sur un fil, scored campaigns for prestigious brands and built monumental events. The new chapter takes him out of the frenzy of world touring and into the wild: he moved his studio to high-altitude Alpine peaks and to the middle of the Mediterranean, armed with a custom modular synth the size of a suitcase, working in a primitive, analog way. Raw recordings of those places now sit alongside the emotional arpeggios he is known for, and he continues as a live performer.
