About Cumulus
Cumulus is the songwriting project of Alexandra Lockhart and William Cremin, and We've Got It All, released April 18 on Share It Music, is their fourth album. What began as Lockhart's own undertaking has become something closer to a duo: Cremin took on full co-writer and co-producer roles for these songs. The record was written in the gaps, on long drives and into voice memos, on solo walks in the woods, and in a cozy Seattle basement practice space. It is a reflection on the things that carry a person through the hardest stretches, with songs drawn from childhood friendships, a hello from a neighbor, bookish escapes, winding highways, family and, always, music. Lockhart's biggest songwriting inspiration is Jason Molina, who sang that the real truth about it is no one gets it right, and that we're all supposed to try; in that spirit, Boxes and Letters carries the record's thesis and its title line, about taking a deep breath of cold air and watching the leaves fall while, for a minute, you pretend you've got it all figured out.
