Weird Lines is a new project from Canadian indie queen Julie Doiron, CL McLaughlin, and Jon McKiel along with their fellow Maritime friends and musicians James Anderson, Michael C. Duguay and Chris Meaney. Based out of Sackville, New Brunswick, the group blends 50s doo-wop with 90s distortion and a little saxophone and summer vibes thrown in for good measure. They originally formed in 2014 to release a single “Twin Summers” in conjunction with Sappyfest, an annual independent music festival launched in 2006 by Doiron’s own record label.
Now the group is back with their self-titled debut album coming out on July 8 via the brand new label Sappy Futures Ltd. You can get a taste of their mellow, fuzzed-out pop just in time for summer by listening to the premiere over on AUX. If you’re in eastern Canada this month, you can catch them on tour here:
